Kingdom Siege
What is Kingdom Siege? How do you siege? How does siege work?
Kingdom Siege: Villages can be put under Siege by the use of the special attack Lay Siege. This special attack is only available through paid membership plans which can be acquired from the Zhentonian Market.

Why Siege? It is sometimes very hard or near impossible to remove the fortification of a village (i.e. the walls and towers protecting the village from invasions). In such cases, suicide missions and brute strength is not the best choice, but a more strategic and planned approach is required.

The solution is of course, to put the enemy village under siege. A village that is under siege experiences many difficulties while managing its resources and development, and is subject to constant bombardment from the enemy to its fortification. This is the prime way for an attacker to tear down the fortification of an enemy village, and get rid of those annoying walls and towers.

INITIATING a siege : Certain requirements have to be met for a village to successfully initiate a siege.

Contents:

  1. Requirements for challenging village
  2. Requirements for target village
  3. Siege penalties for target village
  4. Siege cancellation
  5. Viewing results

Requirements to be met by the challenger - These conditions must be met to initiate a siege campaign:

  • Challenging village is not under Imperial Protection
  • Challenging village is not under siege
  • Challenging village can send at least 100 siege units at the beginning of the campaign
  • Challenging village is not a Commander/Commanding Village
  • Challenging village is not a Leader/Monarch of a legion

Requirements to be met by the target - A village can only be put under siege if the following conditions are true:

  • Target village is not under Imperial Protection
  • Target village is not under siege
  • Target village has more than 4.5% wall coverage
  • Target village is not a Commander/Commanding Village

Siege penalties - Once a siege has been initiated, the target village inherits the following penalties:

  • x2 crime and chance of riots occuring due to low moral
  • x2 illnesses as medical supplies run short and casualties increase
  • -30% food production due to restricted use of land
  • -30% moral production due to constant bomardment and siege
  • -0.5 army moral per turn due to sieging conditions
  • Monarch gains no tribute as village is cut off by the enemy military
  • Unable to join/disband a legion
  • Monarch defence does NOT apply

Siege Cancellation - A siege campaign can automatically disband if any of the following conditions are true during a siege round:

  • Challenging village has less than 30 siege units in a siege round
  • Challenging village cannot pay the expedition costs of the military in a siege round

Viewing results of a siege - Whether your village is carrying out a siege campaign, or is under siege, you can view the siege results by following a link from the main kingdom page, usually displayed near the top of the page.

Here you can view all time unit losses, damage to fortification and the amount of units still campaigning. The challenger can also send in more units using this screen.

Siege process: A Siege Round takes place every hour, and continues to take place until one or more of the nullifying conditions become true (see below).

A siege will end if...

  • The target village's wall coverage drops below 4.5%
  • The target village surrenders
  • The challenging village disbands the siege campaign
  • The challenging village has less than 30 siege units left before the round begins
  • The challenging village is attacked by another village
  • The challenging village cannot fund the siege campaign (costs are deducted hourly at every siege round)

The target village can also surrender to prevent further damage to structures and military. In this case, the target village's walls are brought down to 10 structures, and decreased in reputation by 15.

The challenging village can also disband the siege campaign. In such a case, the siege is terminated and 15 reputation points are deducted from the challenging village.

Siege Process - The following events occur in every siege round:

  1. The target village's (the village under siege) towers initiate the round by inflicting starter casualties to the sieging army (casualty rate equals 1/10 of normal, i.e. 10% of normal)
  2. The siege units of the challenging village (the village initiating the siege) attack the enemy fortification and inflict damage to walls and towers (casualty rate is 1/3 of normal, or 33% of normal)
  3. A check is made to determine the wall coverage of the target village. If the wall coverage is below 4.5%, the siege is terminated.
  4. The archers from the target village fire their arrows at the sieging army and inflict heavy casualties (casualty rate is 10% of normal)

Once a siege has been terminated, the sieging army awaits orders from its generals to charge at the enemy village. Even if a village has been breached, it may still hold a devestating force behind its gates...
