Zhentor Online - Official Guide
Getting Started - The Bare Essentials!
What is what? How do I stay alive? How do I make money?
Creating Villages Character Status What is my ultimate goal?
Its ok to be lost... No doubt, you will be lost as you begin your adventure in the lands of Zhentor. Its a massive game and its perfectly acceptable that you might be confused. Read on for some tips to get you stared.

Aim of the game: Unlike most online games, there is no clear goal to reach in Zhentor Online. You step into a world of magic and fantasy, where you can do so much it hurts just listing it down!

  • Cast spells
  • Battle monsters
  • Duel fellow Zhentonians
  • Brew potions
  • Craft weapons and equipment for trade or battle
  • Sew armour and equippables for protection or profit
  • Shape gemstones into various patterns and fix them onto accessories for special bonuses
  • Enchant items
  • Repair items
  • Recharge magical items
  • Mine for gemstones
  • Hunt animals for rare hides
  • Complete quests, learn new skills and follow a unique storyline...
  • ... and even create villages in a variety of zones!
It is up to you which profession you wish to follow, and what path you wish to travel. However, ultimately, your aim should be to become the top player in Zhentor Online, and this can be done in numerous ways, as you can see here.

Initial Plan: First of all, we recommend you begin by familiarising yourself with the different links from the top menu. View the many different screens just to get an overview of what's available, even if you don't understand most of the stuff yet. After that, we recommend for new players to begin by creating a new village in their starting area. The reason we recommend this is that it will allow you to meet with other more experienced players who will be able to guide you throught the different features of the game. Also when you start a village, you have the opportunity to make some great friends and announce your presence to the general community. Of course, this is all essential in becoming an Elite Zhentonian.

Once you create a village, you will find the Kingdom Starter guide very useful to understand and grasp the fundamentals of village development. We are sure that you will undoubtedly be drawn further into the village gameplay at the end of 300-500 turns. It really is that good and worth trying.

We will now list the many different screens you can view, and how to get there. This might prove useful for you later on in the game. Just select the appropriate sheet from the drop down to get started.

Staying alive: New players might find themselves constantly trampled by powerful monsters, but staying alive is not that hard, it just takes some getting used to.

Trying to win a Melee Battle can be quite frustrating for new players, especially for the non-combat classes such as the Magicians and the Thieves. It is recommended that you avoid travel at the beginning and stay in Durham (the city you start in) until you progress a few levels, before starting to adventure the vast lands of Zhentor. This will give you sufficient time to develop your characteristics, while also preparing you for the outside world, and bigger, badder monsters!

The way Zhentor currently runs, dying is not all that significant. Once you die, you can simply visit a local temple and resurrect yourself for a small fee. However, this is to subject to change in the future, so expect to be transported to the netherworld when your soul is hanging between the worlds!

It is also a good idea to stack up your supplies of potions from the local brewery. Most potions are quite cheap and cost-effective. Spellcasting characters can also use heal spells to restore their HP, and use mana restoring potions to make up for the lost mana. If you have friends at the game, you can also get them to cast heal spells on your character. Life's great in Zhentor Online.

So how do you make money? Making money is a bit more complex than staying alive in Zhentor Online!

So how DO we go about making money? Well there are several ways one can do this at the beginning of the game. The first method is to invest some money in shares at the local vault. This of course, relies on luck and chance. It is not uncommon to find players making huge amounts of money due to investment in shares. This is probably the easiest, most hassle-free method of making money.

Note: Not every zone is economically stable to provide bank services.

Another method of making money is through trade. Characters with good charm rating can profit by buying / selling items. However, for the profits to be anywhere near worth the trouble, the character's charm rating needs to be considerably high (i.e. 50+), thus this is only a reasonable choice later on in the game when your character is better developed.

Another way one can make money in Zhentor Online is by using certain skills. Characters can mine for jewels and sell these for money, enchant items (thus increasing their value) and sell these for money, shape gemstones (to be used in crafting recipes for special enchantments) and sell the end product for money, and use skills such as brewing, leatherworking, blacksmithing and various others to find and make valuable objects, to be later sold on the market for a profitable price.

An alternative method is to fight Melee battles, loot valuable items off monsters and put these on the global auction, to be bid by all Zhentonians (make sure you are not putting items that are required for quests on auction, as these are very hard to find), or just sell them through the local market. Remember you can always put rare items for sale in your personal store

Villages: Villages are perhaps the most attractive part of Zhentor Online, and why many players join the game in the first place!

Villages are unique to the gameplay of Zhentor Online, and we pride ourselves on the variety of functions available for village development. The aim of creating and developing a village is to raise a dominant entity and authorise your rule over any particular nation, be it with power and fear, or with respect and authority. It is ultimately up to the individual which role he/she wants his/her village to take, but it certainly makes up a couple of hours worth of intense gameplay action.

So why is creating villages so popular in Zhentor Online? Well imagine this. You are part of a legion which consists of an elite band of Orc'n Villages, ready for battle, ready to tear out the enemy's guts and shove it down their throats! You are being defied, challenged, mimicked, and provoked by a fellow legion packed with herds of Undead swarms ready to plunge forward and invade your borders! The drama, the suspense, the thrill, and the heart-gripping fear of defeat and destruction is what many Zhentonians live for, and as you will undoubtedly find out, some have made it a part of their lives; feeding off the fear of man and the pride of victory! The intense gameplay and the vast amounts of possibilites and functions available within the village development sect makes it really popular amongst herds of Zhentoians.

For more information, you might find it useful to read the Kingdom Basics section of the guide.

Your goal: Your goal in Zhentor Online can be as simple as to enjoy yourself!

There is no definite goal, as such, in Zhentor Online. It is important above all that you have a good time, enjoy yourself and make lots of new friends.

But for those curious Georges and the ones willing to put the extra mile in, your ultimate goal, as a Zhentonian is to achieve one of the two elite ranks and become one of the Risen, either as worshipper of Lord Hades and ranked as a fearsome Demon, or as a follower of Lady Isabeth to fight the forces of darkness as her Guardian. These two ranks are also know as the Semi-Immortal ranks and are still in development, but one thing is for sure, they will not be easy to acquire!
